AXIS Announces 2018 Pilot Project Awardees

The CDU Accelerating Excellence in Translational Science (AXIS) Center announces the selection of 4 Pilot Project grant awardees for 2018-2019. The awardees are given up to $70,000 each in direct costs for over one to two years. 
The CDU AXIS Pilot project Program is designed to facilitate innovative approaches in translation research in basic mechanisms, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment that disproportionally affect minority and undeserved communities.

The 2018 AXIS Pilot Project recipients and their projects are: 

1. Dr. Piwen Wang - Targeting cytidine metabolism in prostate cancerchemo prevention and treatment. 
2. Dr. Seyung Chung - Dual targeting cancer stem cells and telomerase for the treatment of colorectal cancer. 
3. Dr. Nestor Gonzalez-Cadavid - EMT oncogenic induction or malignatn stimulation of human breast epithelial cells. 
4. Cynthia Davis - PrEP and PEP: Knowledge, Attitude, Beliefs and Behaviors (KABB) among at risk African American adults and youth.
