Dr. Norris' NMA Award

The National Medical Association awarded Dr. Keith Norris the Meritorious Achievement Award for his notable achievement and prominence in medicine, healthcare, and clinical research.

Dr. Norris is Professor of Medicine, Executive Vice President of Research, and Principal Investigator of AXIS at Charles Drew University. His research is focused on the prevention and early treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD), the role of vitamin D in CKD, and calcium management in end-stage renal disease and hypertension. Dr. Norris is committed to the elimination of health disparities in minority populations.

The National Medical Association bestows the award on one researcher each year.

The NMA is the largest and oldest national organization representing African American physicians and their patients. NMA seeks to improve the quality of health among minorities and disadvantaged people. The association works towards these goals through professional development, community health education, advocacy, research, and partnerships with federal and private agencies.

With this award, the NMA honors outstanding members and other professionals who have made major contributions in medicine and toward the work of the NMA itself.
